Illinois does have a revenue problem

The real problem with Rauner's budget is revenue.

To be realistic the state of Illinois needs more revenue no matter who is in office, Republican or Democrat. The possibilities are increasing the income tax, broadening the sales tax base, and even taxing retirement income.

If we wish to provide help for the poor, the disabled, help local districts pay for schools and support our world class universities, we must increase revenue. To cut funds for these governmental responsibilities will not only hurt most citizens of Illinois, but also detract from the image of our state across the nation.

Let us hope our government officials act responsibly in this regard.
