Cougars bats boom again against LumberKings

CLINTON, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars captured a 14-3 victory over the Clinton LumberKings on Saturday at Ashford University Field.

Among the highlights for the Cougars (13-17), who have scored 25 runs on 33 hits in the past two games, were 2 doubles and 2 RBI from Cody Regis; a 2-run homer by Marty Herum, his third of the season; a double and 2-run homer by Joe Munoz; a double by Stryker Trahan; and pinch hitter Steve McQuail's first homer, a solo shot.

Cougars starter Markus Solbach (2-2), who didn't allow a hit until the fifth, working 6 innings for his third quality start as he beat the LumberKings for the second time this season. He allowed 2 hits and 1 unearned run.

The Cougars enjoy an off day before heading home to begin a four-game series against the Burlington Bees on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Brent Jones (1-3, 3.53 ERA) starts for the Cougars against Sean Newcomb (1-0, 2.17).
