Schaumburg gets new human resources director

Ann Everhart, currently the director of Human Resources for Crystal Lake, has been named Schaumburg's new director of Human Resources. Everhart holds a master's degree in communication from Northern Illinois University and is actively involved with the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association, currently as president. Everhart will begin her position with the village of Schaumburg on Monday, June 1.

• Buffalo Grove High School counselor Francesca Pecoraro was recently named Illinois High School Counselor of the Year for 2015. Pecoraro was selected for her outstanding listening skills and advocacy in providing students with the resources, support and encouragement needed to attain success during their high school careers and beyond. She is also a peer leader at Buffalo Grove and throughout District 214. She received the award April 24, at the Illinois School Counselor Association conference in Skokie.

• Tony Sanders, chief executive officer for Elgin Area School District U-46, hosted the fourth annual reception and awards ceremony for winners of the Superintendent's Scholarships on April 29, at Kenyon Woods Middle School, in South Elgin. Recipients of the $1,000 scholarships include Tahniyath Safvi and Guadalupe Villagran from Bartlett High School and Ana Jaqueline Mujica, Dominik Pabianczyk and Homero Peres Sanchez from Streamwood High School.

• The following United Pacel Service drivers were recently inducted into the company's prestigious Circle of Honor for achieving 25 years of accident-free driving: Michael Toomey of Arlington Heights, James Kalasmiki of Bartlett, Robert Presslak of Elk Grove Village, Thomas Psihogios of Mount Prospect, Anthony Fricano of Palatine and Sharon Pascoe of Skokie.

The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs 2015 scholarships will be awarded at the annual STC Scholarship Recognition Dinner, May 13 at Mead Junior High School. Recipients are seniors in high school, who once attended District 54 schools. The Bonnie Greenberg Memorial Scholarship goes to Roxanne Espinoza (Blackwell Elementary School, Jane Addams Junior High, Hoffman Estates High School). The 2-Year Junior College/Trade or Vocational Scholarship recipient is Dakota Halterman (Aldrin/Frost/Schaumburg High School). The 4-year College/University Scholarships go to Joseph Kosiek (Einstein/Addams/Hoffman Estates High School); Kevin Chang (Dooley/Mead/Conant High School); Angela Killian (Dooley/Mead/Conant High School); Riya Shah (Link/Mead/Conant High School); Robin Barr (Link/Mead/Conant High School); Emilee Baldwin (Enders-Salk/Keller/Schaumburg High School); Mariah Calubag (Hanover Highlands/Frost/Schaumburg High School), Christopher Napier (Hoover/Keller/Schaumburg High School); and Anthony Argueta, (Enders-Salk/Frost/Schaumburg High School). Each student will be given a one-year, $1,000 scholarship.
