Three Lake County organizations hold rain barrel, compost bin and native plant sale

Three Lake County organizations came together Saturday to host a rain barrel, compost bin and native plant sale at the Independence Grove Forest Preserve near Libertyville.

By purchasing the barrels, bins and native plants, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, Lake County Stormwater Management and the Lake County Forest Preserve District said homeowners can increase garden productivity, conserve water, save on utility bills, bring wildlife to their yards and benefit the environment.

Experts were also on hand to answer questions.

Native plants available for purchase were ferns, flowers, grasses, shrubs, vines and trees. The plant sale (only) continues Sunday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
