Downtown partnership to host update on St. Charles

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership will host a "City Update" Wednesday, May 13.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for networking and the program will begin at 5 p.m. in the council chambers at the city's municipal building, 2 E. Main St.

The event will provide time for people to meet with city staff, followed by staff presentations. It will include a look ahead at the strategic plan and new programs and projects slated for downtown. There also will be an update on the highly anticipated First Street development and information on the new downtown branding, as well as an opportunity to ask questions of staff.

"Downtown St. Charles is looking forward to an active summer. Building construction at the northeast corner of First and Illinois streets will begin around Independence Day. Economic development is pushing forward and investors are encouraged to inquire about the new downtown incentive for businesses," said City Administrator Mark Koenen. "If you are interested, we encourage retailers, commercial investors and residents to attend."

The update is part of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership's Business Exchange programming, which provides networking and education for downtown business and property owners. This program is open to the public, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged. Anyone interested in attending can email info@downtownstcharles.org or call the office at (630) 443-3967.
