Cougars explode for 11-4 win

CLINTON, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars found an answer to their offensive struggles, powering to an 11-4 win over the Clinton LumberKings that snapped a four-game losing skid.

The Cougars (12-17) jumped out to a 3-0 lead, matching their run production for the last four games. Starter Brad Keller (1-3) retired the first 11 Clinton hitters before allowing 3 runs in the fourth that tied the game. But the Cougars scored 6 in the fifth, helping Keller earn his first win of the season. Joe Munoz, Josh Elander, Fernery Ozuna, Jose Queliz, Victor Reyes and Colin Bray all had RBI in the burst.

Nick Baker took over for Keller and did not allow a run through the eighth inning. Zac Curtis finished with a flourish, striking out the side in the ninth.

In today's series finale at 2 p.m., the Cougars send Markus Solbach (1-2, 3.72 ERA) against Lukas Schiraldi (2-2, 3.75).
