Kane County sheriff's deputy under investigation by different agencies

Investigators from at least two law enforcement agencies are looking into the actions of a Kane County sheriff's deputy who worked with evidence and records.

Deputy Kim Zinke was placed on paid leave April 21 while the department conducts an administrative investigation of her conduct, Kane County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said. The Illinois State Police are conducting their own investigation of Zinke. The details of the conduct under examination will not be shared until the investigations conclude, Gengler said.

Kim Zinke is the spouse of former McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke, who resigned from that position in November following an unsuccessful bid to become McHenry County Sheriff.

Andrew Zinke was the source of a recent internal investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's office regarding allegations Zinke told one of his campaign donors about a pending investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The investigation found the accusation to be baseless.
