Rolling Meadows woman hospitalized after Arlington Heights crash

A Rolling Meadows woman was hospitalized Thursday after the car she was riding in with her husband collided with another vehicle in the intersection of Oakton Street and Wilke Road in Arlington Heights, police said.

Arlington Heights police Sgt. Rich Sperando said the driver of the second vehicle, an Arlington Heights woman, was attempting a left turn off Oakton onto southbound Wilke at about 10:36 a.m. Thursday when it struck the Rolling Meadows couple's car, which was northbound on Wilke.

Sperando said the Rolling Meadows woman was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Her condition was not available.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene, Sperando said. Traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour while the accident was cleared up.

The Arlington Heights woman was issued a citation for failure to yield. Sperando said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that both drivers, as well as the injured passenger, were wearing seat belts.
