Sponsors needed for new Kids' Corner at Lombard Cruise Nights

Organizers for Lombard's Cruise Nights are looking for sponsors for a new Kids' Corner that will be introduced at the weekly event this summer.

Cruise Nights will return to downtown Lombard on Saturday, June 13. The event runs every Saturday evening through August from 6 to 10 p.m., except on the Fourth of July.

Community groups and organizations are being asked to provide a free activity for children, such as games, music, reading activities or arts and crafts.

Besides the opportunity to promote their organization, events or initiatives at Cruise Nights, sponsors will be promoted by the village through its website and on social media.

Village officials say the Kids' Corner is being introduced to address the increase of families attending Cruise Night Summer Concerts.

The concert schedule for Cruise Nights is as follows:

• June 13 - Radio personality Buzz Kilman plays blues with his band, the Blues Rocket Scientists

• June 20 - Tony the DJ plays 1950s favorites from the back of a classic car

• June 27 - Classic rock cover band Evolution plays songs from Journey, Bon Jovi, Boston and more

• July 11 - June's Got the Cash, a theater show band, pays tribute to Johnny Cash

• July 18 - Tony the DJ is back with more 1950s songs

• July 25 - American English, a Beatles cover band complete with costumes and vintage instruments

• August 1 - '90s cover band Run Forrest Run plays hits from Pearl Jam to Weezer

• August 8 - Chicago-based Big Dog Mercer plays the blues

• August 15 - Family night featuring a Lombard Town Centre radio program and outdoor movie

• August 29 - Local rock band 7th Heaven plays original songs and pop covers

Anyone interested in being a sponsor should contact Communications Coordinator Avis Meade by May 15 at (630) 620-5718 or meadea@villageoflombard.org.

Volunteers are also needed to help with cleanup and monitor foot traffic. Drivers are invited to park along St. Charles Road from Main Street to Elizabeth Street, along Park Avenue and in several parking lots within the "Cruise Zone" along St. Charles Road. They also are asked not to park in the designated spots before 4 p.m.
