Driver flees scene of Route 53 rollover crash
Emergency crews responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash in Schaumburg on Thursday afternoon but couldn't find the driver of the car.
Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows crews arrived at the crash scene on southbound Route 53 near the I-90 exit around 3:30 p.m., said John Steele, shift commander with the Schaumburg Fire Department.
The car was upright on its wheeling in the middle of the road, but no driver was in sight, Steele said.
State police who were assisting with the investigation told crews that the driver apparently fled on foot and had not been found.
It was unknown if the driver was injured in the crash.
