Bears sign first round draft pick White, four others

At least five of the Bears' six draft picks will be under contract when Friday's first practice of the three-day rookie minicamp gets underway.

On Wednesday, the Bears agreed to terms with first-round wide receiver Kevin White on a four-year contract with a fifth-year option for the seventh overall pick. Second-round defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (39th overall) agreed on a four-year contract.

The team also reached agreements on four-year deals Tuesday with fourth-round running back Jeremy Langford, fifth-round safety Adrian Amos and sixth-round offensive lineman Tayo Fabuluje Tuesday. Only third-round center Hroniss Grasu remains unsigned and, given Bears contract negotiator Cliff Stein's propensity for getting draft picks signed faster than anyone in the league, his deal could be finished soon.

White's deal is four years at $16.56 million and includes a guaranteed $10.3 million signing bonus.

Goldman's deal should be about 5 percent more than the $5.17 million that last year's 39th overall pick, wide receiver Marquise Lee, got from the Jaguars, which included a $2.08 million signing bonus.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound White is expected to step into a starting position immediately and give the Bears their best deep threat with his 4.31 speed that enables him to blow past all but the fastest corners. His leaping ability also should help him to win jump balls anywhere on the field. After a slow start at the collegiate level, White blew up last year with 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 336-pound Goldman is expected to anchor the middle of the Bears' new 3-4 defense because of his run-stuffing ability and agility that allowed him to make plays up and down the line while playing multiple positions in three different defensive schemes at Florida State.
