Elgin Public Museum to host Science Night, Heritage Celebration

The Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., offers a Science Night and a Heritage Celebration this weekend.

What is "Grossology"? Why it is the science of all things weird, gross and disgusting, of course! It's slimy, gooey, stinky, smelly stuff explained in different stations set up around the Elgin Public Museum during this "Science Night" drop-in program.

Adults and kids can conduct experiments, experience demonstrations and partake in discussions featuring "gag-rageous" science.

Join the Elgin Public Museum for "Grossology Family Science Night" from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8. Admission is $2 per person or free for museum members. For details, call (847) 741-6655. No registration is necessary.

On Saturday, May 9, the Friends of the Lords Park Zoo will continue the "Heritage Celebration: A Super Saturday in the Park" from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Help celebrate 120 years of animals being a part of Lords Park. This past year, three baby elk were born and the farm animal zoo reopened.

Join hosts Friends of the Lords Park Zoo along with Elgin historical and heritage organizations for family orientated fun in the farm animal area of Lords Park.

In this historical setting, enjoy live music, popcorn, refreshments, washable animal tattoos for children, souvenirs and more. No registration is required.
