Good reason to skip Tea Party confab

In the April 28 edition of the Daily Herald, Ron Petrucci of St. Charles wonders why there was such limited coverage by the local press, of the April 15 meeting of the Tea Party at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles.

My crystal ball must be a little more efficient than that of Mr. Petrucci for it easily comes up with the answer with only minimal rubbing. The answer, naturally, is why would the press want to waste limited time, space and other resources covering the radical, out of the mainstream blatherings of a bunch of unpatriotic extremists?

Party website TeaParty.org indicates the purpose of the Tea Party is to call awareness to any issue that "challenges the security, sovereignty, or domestic tranquillity of our beloved nation." This is the same party led by men such as Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Jeff Sessions who championed a movement to shut down the very government of the United States that they claim to love and allegedly desire to represent.

How does shutting down the U.S. government promote security, sovereignty, or domestic tranquillity? This type of unpatriotic activity, bordering on treason, is not what mainstream America wants to see or hear about. Accordingly, the press did the vast majority of Americans a huge service by ignoring the meeting, and thus the agenda, of a misguided few ultra conservative extremists who are nothing more than domestic terrorists.
