WIM Fox Valley welcomes Elgin police commander May 14

Women in Management Fox Valley will present "Meeting the Challenges of Women in Law Enforcement" with Commander Ana Lally of the Elgin Police Department at the next meeting on Thursday, May 14.

The luncheon, sponsored by WIM Fox Valley member Monie Burns of Monie Mony Concierge Services, will be held at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin.

It will begin with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:30 p.m.

Cost for members is $22 and $25 for nonmembers. Area women business owners and managers are welcome to attend this month's presentation. Reservations must be made for attendance online at www.wimfoxvalley.org.

"With an increase of females in law enforcement, we are interested to hear Commander Lally discuss the obstacles and challenges they face every day in their career," said Loni Mecum, WIM Fox Valley president.

Commander Lally has been with the Elgin Police Department since 1996 when she was hired as a police officer.

She has risen through the ranks to detective, sergeant and lieutenant to her present position as commander of patrol, investigations and administrations since 2012.

She is also an adjunct professor at Elgin Community College, teaching criminal justice since January 2007.

Commander Lally received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Illinois State University in 1996 and master of arts in criminal justice administration from Loyola University in 2002.

She is married to Sgt. Jim Lally of the Elgin Police Department.
