Lake County teens earn National Merit scholarships

Eighteen Lake County high school students will receive scholarships from local companies as part of the National Merit Scholarship program, the contest's organizers have announced.

The corporate scholarships are awarded to children of employees, students who reside in the communities the companies serve or kids who plan to pursue college degrees or careers in preferred fields.

The winners included:

• Nikhil R. Arora of Buffalo Grove, Stevenson High School.

• Michael N. Bogdanov of Vernon Hills, Vernon Hills High School.

• Catherine E. Frantz of Vernon Hills, Vernon Hills High School.

• Hannah Louise Gaertner of Libertyville, Libertyville High School.

• Brandon T. Ho of Deerfield, Deerfield High School.

• Sierra Noelle Hovey of Island Lake, Wauconda High School.

• Arvind Kumar of Buffalo Grove, Stevenson High School.

• Monet J. Lee of Buffalo Grove, Stevenson High School.

• Dean X. Li of Riverwoods, Deerfield High School.

• Michelle Ling of Kildeer, Stevenson High School.

• Cindy Luan of Long Grove, Stevenson High School.

• Hunter R. Moore of Lake Forest, Lake Forest High School.

• Morgan E. Schneider of Lake Villa, Grayslake North High School.

• Caroline Stanton of Deer Park, Barrington High School.

• Christine Tsai of Vernon Hills, Vernon Hills High School.

• Lauren B. Willians of Libertyville, Libertyville High School.
