Artists Sought for Inaugural Choreographers Showcase at College of DuPage

The College of DuPage Dance Department is seeking choreographers for an inaugural Choreographers Showcase Saturday, Aug. 1, in the Playhouse Theater of the McAninch Arts Center at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Open to choreographers age 18 and older, applicants are invited to submit works not exceeding eight minutes and set to any numbers of dancers. Lighting must use a generic plot and technical needs must be minimal. Click here for more information and how to apply.

Eight choreographers will be selected to have their works performed, with cash prizes awarded to the top three scorers. Artists will be scored on creativity and originality by judging panel members Nick Pupillo of Visceral Dance Chicago, Joanna Rosenthal of Same Planet Different World and Melissa Thodos of Thodos Dance Chicago.

One participating choreographer may also be chosen to serve as featured guest at a COD Dance event in the 2015-2016 academic year. Additionally, one or more selected choreographers may be offered a $1,000 stipend to choreograph a new piece for a student performance.

Completed applications, along with a $10 application, fee are due by Monday, June 1. DVDs are accepted but will not be returned. Works in progress will be considered, but must be proposed and supplemented with past work.
