120 Woodland Intermediate School students showcase talent in Gurnee

Fourth- and fifth-grade students hit center stage Friday for the "Woodland's Got Talent" program in Gurnee.

Around 120 Woodland Intermediate School students performed in four, 40-minute shows for fellow students, parents and community members. Each show highlighted a different group of students who presented a variety of singing, dancing, cheer, gymnastics, martial arts, visual arts and music performances.

Fourth-grade teacher Natalie Housh said the annual show is a great opportunity for students to show off their passion and unique personalities. The event also builds confidence.

"It's a huge steppingstone in preparing them for the future and getting in front of people and being a courageous human being," Housh said. "I commend all the children for their hard work and their effort and how brave they were to get up in front of their wonderful classmates."
