Schaumburg man charged with child pornography

A 21-year-old Schaumburg man who prosecutors say used social media to post photographs of naked underage girls faces child pornography charges.

Caleb Trimble was ordered held on $50,000 bail Friday.

Cook County Judge Bridget Hughes also prohibited the Harper College student from using the Internet and ordered that he have no contact with anyone under age 18.

Schaumburg police began investigating Trimble in September 2014, after they received a tip that he had posted photographs of girls under age 18 without their clothes to his Instagram account, which was linked to his Facebook account, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Alyssa Grissom.

On more than 10 occasions between April 1 and June 25, 2014, Trimble posted images of children engaged in sexual conduct, Grissom said.

Trimble has no criminal background. His attorney said he suffers from Asperger Syndrome.

Police arrested Trimble on Wednesday. If convicted of disseminating child pornography, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

He next appears in court on May 21.
