Softball: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, April 30

Teaghan Richman threw a 1-hitter Thursday as the Jacobs softball team rolled to an 11-0 win in 5 innings over Grayslake North in a Fox Valley Conference crossover game in Grayslake.

Richman did as much damage with her bat as with her pitching arm, going 3-for-4 with a home run and 6 RBI as the Golden Eagles (10-13) pounded out 14 hits.

Emily Borg was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Jacobs, while Kerri Healy (RBI), Jess Mrzlak (2-for-3, 2B, RBI), Jessica Powell (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) and Hailey Lonigro (2B) also contributed.

Burlington Central 6, Genoa-Kingston 3: Kristina Ahlers went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Gretchen Schrubbe had a double and an RBI as the Rockets (11-9, 7-2) won their fourth straight in this Big Northern East game. Alyssa Mish and Jill Neisendorf each had 2 hits and an RBI for BC and Amanda Ratliff drove in a run. Emily Kisch struck out 11, walked 2 and gave up 8 hits in earning the win.

CL South 4, Grayslake Central 3: Carly Chovanec (2B) and Brook Maddox each had 2 hits for the Gators (12-7) in this FVC crossover win. Sam Burgard and winning pitcher Hailee Massie each added 2 hits for Crystal Lake South. Massie allowed 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in earning the complete game win.

CL Central 11, Cary-Grove 4: Grace Pilz had a double and 2 RBI and Caitlyn Adams drove in 2 runs for Cary-Grove (6-12) in this FVC crossover loss. Amanda DeGroote took the loss in the circle.

Westmont 12, Larkin 0: Haley Bohne had Larkin's only hit in this nonconference loss. Emily Rojo was the losing pitcher for the Royals (4-16).

Aurora Central Catholic 4, St. Edward 0: Lindsay Zdroik (3B) had St. Edward's only 2 hits in a Metro Suburban West loss. Emily Stapay was the losing pitcher for the Green Wave (15-6-1, 5-4).

Huntley 8, Prairie Ridge 3: In a FVC crossover, Jessica Shields (2-for-3, 2B, RBI), Jessica Knutsen (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Haley Spannraft (2-for-4, 2B) led the Red Raiders (14-5) to the win. Tiffany Giese was the winning pitcher, allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts and 5 walks.

Dundee-Crown 13, Woodstock 4: Claire Weeks was 3-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI and Isabel Rodriguez drove in 2 runs to lead the Chargers (11-5) to an FVC crossover win. Ashley Czerwinski had 2 hits including a double, Jessica McVickers added a triple and Danielle Pautz had a double and an RBI for D-C. Rachel Chlopek, Casey Weeks and winning pitcher Kayla Sjodin each drove in runs as well.

West Chicago 10, Elgin 2: Sabrina Stockman (RBI) and losing pitcher Jessica Rago each had 2 hits for Elgin (3-18, 2-11) in this UEC River loss. Madison Latham also drove in a run for the Maroons.

McHenry 8, Hampshire 0: Aly Snider and Melissa Esparza had Hampshire's only hits in this FVC crossover loss. Haley Widmayer took the loss for the Whip-Purs (9-14).
