Jacobs 5, Mt. Carmel 3: At Trout Park, Johnny Rohde earned his 9th save in as many chances when he got the potential go-ahead run to fly out to left fielder Stevie Krueger with runners at first and second to end this nonconference game. Daniel Tenayuca went 2-for-3 with a solo home run while Krueger, Ryan Sargent (2-for-3), Jeff Sidor and Brenden Heiss drove in runs for Jacobs (19-5).

Lakes 5, Crystal Lake South 3: Ryan Wilkening (3-2) absorbed this nonconference loss loss despite holding the Eagles to 2 earned runs on 6 hits. He struck out 2 without issuing a walk. Garrett Bright's 3 singles represented half the hit total for CL South (17-4).

Cary-Grove 13, Lake Zurich 5: Doubles by Connor Leach and Shane Barlas led a 12-hit attack by the Trojans in nonconference play. Wyatt Mascarella and Jimmy Perkins each went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Daniel Schmidt held the Bears to an unearned run on 1 hit and 4 walks in 4 innings to lift Cary-Grove (13-6-2).

Batavia 10, Elgin 3: Clay White registered 3 of Elgin's 8 hits in this Upstate Eight River loss to Batavia (10-10, 10-3). Brandon Stork took the loss for Elgin (6-17, 2-10), which has dropped 7 straight.

Waubonsie Valley 14, Bartlett 4 (6 inn.): Upstate Eight Valley leader Waubonsie Valley (16-3, 11-1) scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to win what had been a tied game. Starting pitcher Alex Curtis held the Warriors to 4 unearned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks and struck out 3 in 4⅓ innings. Shane Donovan took the loss in relief for Bartlett (10-10, 7-6).

Neuqua Valley 8, South Elgin 5: The Wildcats completed a 3-game Upstate Eight Valley sweep of the Storm after scoring 5 runs in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead. Alex DiFranco went 2-for-3 and Matt Gould drove in 2 runs for Neuqua Valley (16-4, 11-2). Left-hander Tyler Hankins (1-1) was tagged for 7 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits in the loss for South Elgin (11-5, 8-5).

Burlington Central 9, Johnsburg 4: Andrew Wiss hit a 3-run home run as part of his 4-for-4, 4 RBI performance in this Big Northern East win. Winning pitcher Steve Wisnieski pitched 4 scoreless innings in relief of Dylan Berry to earn the victory for Burlington Central (17-4, 9-0). Wisnieski surrendered only 2 hits and struck out 3 without issuing a walk.

Marmion 9, Hampshire 2: Senior Garrett Hiles (3-2) held the Whip-Purs to hits by Michael Kruse, Jacob Manning and Bryan Diete in this nonconference win for Marmion (8-14) in Aurora. Starting pitcher Carter Lawler yielded 6 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings to take the loss for Hampshire (13-7).

West Chicago 8, Streamwood 3: Hayden Holota and Tim Crom (double) each delivered 2 hits, but West Chicago (9-9, 6-7) outhit the Sabres 9-6 to win the rubber game of this Upstate Eight River series. Pitcher Junior Alvarez allowed 7 runs but only 3 were earned due to 4 errors. He allowed 8 hits without a walk and struck out 5 for Streamwood (4-15, 3-10).

Westminster Christian 6, Christian Liberty Academy 4: Luke Weston tossed a 3-hitter in which he allowed 4 runs (1 earned), walked 3 and struck out 9. Weston also had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, including a double and he drove in 3 runs to power Westminster Christian (13-10, 9-1) in the Northeastern Athletic.

Chicago Christian 9, St. Edward 0: Jake LaFrenz had the only hit for the Green Wave (6-13) in this Metro Suburban crossover loss. Patrick Costello took the loss on the mound.
