Transit best bet to avoid fumbles during the NFL draft

Football-Palooza in Chicago with the NFL draft downtown means traffic tweaks on some major arteries, especially for suburbanites used to taking Congress Parkway.

The city will host sports executives, fans and future NFL stars at the Auditorium Theater through Saturday with outside draft-related events in Grant Park.

As a result, Congress Parkway between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive will be closed until May 8.

Columbus Drive between Balbo Drive and Jackson Boulevard will be shut down until Monday.

Parking restrictions will be in place around Grant Park.

Visitors to Chicago are advised to take public transit this weekend, which also includes the annual Polish Constitution Day Parade Saturday featuring Duke University basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski as grand marshal. The parade steps off from Dearborn Street and Wacker Drive.

NFL circus is in town, and Chicago's looking like Hooterville
