Kayla Switalla and Katie Moats homered, Lauren Olsen had 2 doubles and 6 RBI, and Jenny Moore went 4-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI, as Grayslake North's softball team pounded visiting Woodstock 19-3 in five innings in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division action Wednesday.
Switalla (2 RBI) and Rebecca Sosa (double, RBI) each was 3-for-4. The Knights' other offensive contributors included Brooke Phillips (2-for-4, double, RBI), Danielle Runyon (1-for-1, double) and Jenna Pozezinski (2-for-4). Moats finished 2-for-3 with 4 RBI.
Jessica Vaugn pitched 3 innings in earning the win.
Grayslake Central 18, Woodstock North 3: Brandy Heraty led the Rams' offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with 2 doubles in the Fox Valley Fox contest.
Emma Eiserman was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for Grayslake Central (12-13, 3-3). Winning pitcher Morgan Smigielski was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Lindsay Brust tripled and knocked in a run. The Rams also got doubles from Katie Strickland, Teagan Truskowski and Juliana Frusolone.
Carmel 10, Nazareth 0: Claire Petrus pitched a five-inning shutout in the East Suburban Catholic game.
Dani DeLozier was 3-for-3 with a 3-run double for Carmel. Jen Giesey went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, 2 runs and 3 RBI. Jenny Behan homered and drove in a pair.
Marengo 3, Wauconda 1: Paige Motley homered for the visiting Bulldogs in their nonconference loss.
Kayla Wedl did not allow an earned run for Wauconda (14-10). She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Mundelein 8, Niles West 2: Maria DeVito hit a solo homer and went 2-for-4 for the host Mustangs in their nonconference win.
Mundelein (18-4) got doubles from Jordyn West and Hannah Bulgart, while Nicole Parney went the distance in the circle.
Parney allowed 3 hits and 1 walk, and struck out four. Only one of the runs she gave up was earned.
