Bensenville library picks new director

The Bensenville Public Library board has named Assistant Director David Sieffert to replace Director Jill Rodriguez when she retires at the end of September.

Sieffert joined the staff in 2011 as adult services librarian and has been serving as assistant director since July 2014, officials said in a news release. Board members said they've been impressed with his communication skills, knowledge base and passion for service.

Rodriguez will be stepping down after 38 years at the library, where she has been director since 1981. She has lived in Bensenville since 1977.

Officials said she's played a key role in developing a strong customer service approach, expanding technology services and establishing the library as a community center. The library also has become an advocate for early childhood services, officials said, and developed an Early Learning Center and new related programming.
