Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, April 28

Burlington Central 2, Rockford Christian 1: The duo of Elizabeth Gousios and Jordan King rallied the Rockets (12-2, 7-1) in the second half to a Big Northern East victory. King assisted twice on Gousios' goals, her last coming with 4:21 left in the second half. Erin Rafferty made 1 save and Abbi Ciganek made 3 saves during their respective halves in net.

St. Edward 1, Fenton 0: It took an 8-7 edge in penalty kicks for the Green Wave (8-7, 1-2) to come away with a hard-fought Metro Suburban West win. Scorers in the shootout included Chelsea Gnan, Ashley Lopez, Kathleen Duffy, Olivia Kochanek, Cece Kochanek, Taylor Gredzielski and Megan Kearney. Paige Dykstra made 3 saves in goal in regulation.

Cary-Grove 2, CL South 1: Frankie Frericks' goal and Kelly Stayart's PK in the first half was enough to down the Gators (9-5-1, 2-1) in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play. The Trojans (6-4-1, 2-0) received 4 saves from keeper Miranda Malone while South received a goal from Jessica Schoenfeldt and an assist by Katherine Siavelis. CLS keeper Jaclyn Przybylski made 11 saves.

Westminster Christian 2, IMSA 1: Lindsey Vanden Bos and Alexa Pederson each scored goals and assisted each other in a Northeastern Athletic win. Savannah Dutcher made 2 saves in net for Westminster (6-5), which improved to 5-0 in conference.

Harvest Christian 5, Christian Liberty 0: Morgan Lockwood scored 2 unassisted goals and registered 1 assist in the Lions' NAC win. Ashlyn Floyd, Amanda Moore and Hannah Caldwell added goals for Harvest (8-5, 3-1) while Taylor Keeran and Holley Colclasure each tallied 1 assist. Keeper Isamar Garcia posted a shutout in goal.

McHenry 3, Dundee-Crown 2: Maggie Griffin's 2 goals weren't enough for the Chargers (3-10, 0-2), who allowed 2 goals in the final 20 minutes of an FVC Valley road loss. Alyssa Moreno and Payton De Luga each had 1 assist while goalkeeper Isabel Miranda made 5 saves.

Neuqua Valley 6, Bartlett 1: The Hawks (6-6-1, 1-2-1) were taxed for 3 goals in each half of a UEC Valley loss to division-leading Neuqua. Jenna Noesen recorded the only Hawks goal in the final minute and Brooke Bednarke served the assist.

St. Charles East 12, Larkin 1: Maricruz Ortiz notched a first half goal for the Royals (6-7-1), who were outscored 9-0 in the second half of an Upstate Eight River loss. Goalie Bernice Gomez made 10 saves.

St. Charles North 8, Elgin 0: Hannah Erickson made 23 saves for Elgin in an Upstate Eight River loss.
