Geneva's Sunset Pool gets a facelift

Sunset Pool in Geneva is undergoing its first facelift in a dozen years by adding a number of new features for the pool and a new modern aquatic playground.

The $300,000 renovation will include a 12-foot climbing wall that will be installed in the deep well of the pool allowing swimmers to climb to the top and then drop down into the water. A second, 5-foot-tall climbing wall will be installed in the lap lane area. Other amenities include toddler swings, dumping buckets and water cannons. In addition, pool users at Sunset and Mill Creek pools will see expanded hours and increased swim lesson options.

Construction began the first week of April and will be completed by opening day, May 23.

"We are constantly looking at ways to improve our parks, programs and facilities to meet the community's needs," said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director of the Geneva Park District, in a news release. "The addition of the modern, interactive play features and climbing walls make Sunset Pool a real summer destination," Lambillotte said.
