Chocolate-inspired Cinco de Mayo
All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva partners with Mexican tapas restaurant Altiro Latin Fusion to host a seven-course, prix fixe Cinco de Mayo celebration beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5. The menu includes Mexican staples like ceviche, scallop salad, taco de filette, mole tacos and sea bass tacos. For dessert, All Chocolate Kitchen chef Alain Roby will make a Mayan chocolate pyramid and rain forest fruit. An open bar includes a vast margarita selection. $145 per person. Reservations required. Mariano's and Terlato
Terlato Kitchen founder John Terlato hosts a food and wine tasting at Mariano's in Lake Zurich from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6. Featured foods are creamy tomato soup and grilled cheese bites; penne alla fantasia; roasted fish with Mediterranean sauce; and tart cherry and pistachio soft biscotti. Retro Bistro turns 25
Retro Bistro celebrates 25 years with a special pairing menu - four courses and four wines Friday through Sunday, May 1-3. The food menu consists of hors d'oeuvres including mini crabcakes, merguez sausage, charcutier and smoked salmon; heirloom tomato lobster bisque or a French herbal goat cheese salad; beef tenderloin au poivre, Chilean sea bass or grilled Canadian duck breast; and the anniversary ménage dessert. $75 per person, tax and gratuity not included.
