May Meeting of the Des Plaines Art Guild

Gordon France, acclaimed watercolorist, is the featured artist at the next Des Plaines Art Guild's general meeting on Tuesday, May 12th, 7:00 pm, at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker St., in Des Plaines.

Since 2000, Gordon has been painting full time after retiring from the advertising business in Chicago as a creative director. He has had successful one-man gallery exhibits and art shows in the midwest and east coast, where his paintings have won several awards and ribbons, including Best of Show and First Prize. Besides doing commissions for major companies, Gordon has conducted workshops, painting demonstrations and critiques for art organizations and teaches painting classes at the LaGrange and DuPage Art Leagues. He's been featured on local television stations, in newspaper articles and has had one of his watercolor paintings on the cover of Watercolor Magazine, along with a 12-page article. Gordon was also an award winner in American Artist Magazine's 70th anniversary watercolor competition for his painting "Wrigley Rainout." His lifelong interest in sports does show up in many of his works of art, along with cityscapes and urban life.

Gordon's paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Italy, the UK, Canada and throughout the United States. His work is represented by Phyllis Lucas Galleries in New York City and Art on Elston Galleries in Chicago.

The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served and there is no fee, but donations are appreciated. To join the guild, download a special half year membership form at dpag.org.
