Storm School to host Multicultural Night

In celebration of Children's Day/Book Day (El dia de los niños/El dia de los libros), H.C. Storm Elementary School will host a Multicultural Night.

This free, districtwide event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at H.C. Storm School, 305 N. Van Nortwick, Batavia.

The evening lineup includes culturally diverse performances and activities suited for all ages. The C.A.K.E. African Village Dancers and Music will be featured at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Flannery School of Irish Dance at 6:15 p.m. and the Hix Bros. Soon­-to-­be-­Famous Ukulele Band at 7 p.m.

The World Martial Arts Academy will offer a demonstration and initial class. There will be art activities with a travel theme from Side Street Studios.

Try out elegant henna tattoos. There will be free books for all who attend.

The Multicultural Event also will feature a Resource Fair with service organizations/services, including the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, Lazarus House, Clothes Closet, Tri­City Family Services, Batavia Public Library, medical screenings, free haircuts, budgeting class, and more.

"We are so excited to bring this first­-ever Multicultural Event to all BPS101 families. We will be celebrating the many cultures represented by our diverse school community and learning about what makes them special," said Marcie Marzullo, bilingual/ESL program director and assistant principal at H.C. Storm and Grace McWayne Elementary Schools. "The concurring Resource Fair will provide an opportunity for families to learn more about the many terrific resources available right in this community."
