Softball: Fox Valley roundup Monday, April 27

Huntley 7, Cary-Grove 6: Hayley O'Mara went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI and Shannon Walsh was 2-for-4 with an RBI as Huntley outlasted Cary-Grove in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Megan Baczewski also had an RBI for the Red Raiders (12-5, 3-2) and Haley Spannraft picked up the pitching win in relief. Grace Pilz was 2-for-4 with a grand slam home run for the Trojans (6-10, 2-3) and Caitlyn Adams had 2 hits. Alyssa Gurgone (2B) and Sarah Purpura each had RBI for Cary-Grove and Kristi Isota added a double. Adams was the losing pitcher.

McHenry 4, CL South 2: Jenica Terry and Sam Burgard hit home runs to account for Crystal Lake South's runs in this FVC Valley loss. Hailee Massie suffered the loss in the circle for the Gators (10-6, 1-4).

Hampshire 5, CL Central 4: Peyton DeChant hit a grand slam home run to lead the Whip-Purs (7-12, 3-2) to an FVC Fox win. Haley Widmayer was the winning pitcher.

DeKalb 4, Jacobs 3: Teaghan Richman had a double and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles (8-13) in this nonconference loss. Losing pitcher Alexis Addante added a double.

West Aurora 10, Streamwood 0: The Sabres (4-14) managed just 3 hits in this Upstate Eight loss.

Burlington Central 8, Oregon 1: Emily Kisch scattered 3 hits with 14 strikeouts to lead the Rockets (10-9) to a Big Northern crossover win. Bryn Lawler had a double and 2 RBI for BC, while Kristina Ahlers was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Gretchen Schrubbe added a double and 2 RBI.

St. Edward 16, Timothy Christian 0: Emily Stapay ran her record to 5-1 for the season with a 1-hitter and she drove in 2 runs as the Green Wave (15-4-1) won easily in nonconference action. Also contributing for St. Edward were Lindsay Zdroik (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI), Allison Stratman (2-for-3, 3B, 3 RBI), Megan Strong (2-for-4, RBI), Devyn Ernst (2-for-4, 2B, RBI), Shannon McShane (2 RBI) and Preston Reeves (RBI).

Kaneland 11, Westminster Christian 1: Kristen Mason was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Westminster (5-6) in this nonconference loss.
