Hot-hitting Fremd handles Conant

Fremd's softball team had its bats ready to go in Palatine on Monday.

With Julie Wacker (third) and Jessica Mazur (second) belting homer runs, the Vikings pounded out 14 hits in a 12-2 five-inning triumph over visiting Conant.

Wacker ended up 3-for-4 with 3 RBI while Mazur was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, 2 runs and a double as Fremd improved to 17-3 and 6-1 in the Mid-Suburban West.

Morgan Bihun had the only extra-base hit for Conant (12-3, 5-2), which had 4 hits off winning pitcher Nikki Kehoe.

Other multiple hitters for the Vikings were Reagan Schneider (2-for-4, 1 run), Julie Josten (2-for-4, 2 runs), 2 RBI, 2 doubles) and Becca Uhrich (3-for-4, double), who ended the game with a walk-off single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth.

Kehoe struck out six and walked one while her record to 7-1.

Kehoe and Alissa Wachal hooked up in a dandy duel as the Conant senior saw 19 pitches, a few in which she belted foul down the foul line, before Kehoe notched the strikeout to end the third inning.

Buffalo Grove 16, Wheeling 3 (5 inn.): Senior Julia Camardo (10-3) struck out seven and also went 5-of-5 at the plate with 5 RBI and 2 doubles as the visiting Bison improved to 10-4 and 4-3 in the MSL East.

Leading the BG offense were Caitlin Catino (2-for-5, double, RBI), Katie Fontanetta ((RBI, double), Dea Barton (double, RBI), Jasmine Avalos (RBI), Cynthia Gorski (2-for-3, RBI), Olivia Morini (3-for-4 triple, 2 RBI) and Nikki Longdon (4-for-5).

Wheeling (2-9, 2-4) was led on offense by Nikki Mikosz (2-for-3, triple) and Christina Ambrose (1-for-3, RBI).

Prospect 14, Rolling Meadows 2 (5 inn.): Rachel Trebswether (3-for-4, 4 runs), Casey Lenski (3-for-3, 3 runs, 3 RBI, home run), Jenny Krengiel (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Delilah Malczewski (3 runs, 3 RBI) led the offense for visiting Prospect (6-7, 2-4).

Malczewski was also the winning pitcher with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Elizabeth Elkins went 2-for-3 with an RBI and her sister Amanda belted a home run for RM (2-16, 0-7).

Palatine 5, Hoffman Estates 2: Maddie Craver (5-2) struck out six as the host Pirates improved to 6-11 and 3-5 in the MSL West.

Craver was also 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI. Teammate Victoria Parrott was 1-for-3, with triple.

Craver led off with a single to left field followed by bunt single by Nora Walsh. A groundout moved the runners to second and third before Emily Griffin singled to score Craver and Walsh.

The Pirates added a run in the fourth inning when Craver's double scored Brooke Bauer and Maria Howell.

Palatine catcher Kenzie Craver picked off the runner off third inning to take away a scoring chance for Hoffman Estates (9-10, 2-5).

The Pirates added one more in the bottom of the sixth when Reggie Much worked a walk and was driven in by Maddie Craver's single to right field.

Elk Grove 16, Hersey 13: Brianna Leach (4-for-6, double), Marjorie Sloan (2-for-3, double), Sarah Pauscher (3-for-6, double), and Haley Intzenthaler (3-for-5) led the offense for Elk Grove (17-4, 5-2). Anna Bonder (4-0) earned the win and also tripled.

Hersey (5-13, 0-7) received 2 home runs and a double from Katie Wingerter (4-for-5), and one homer apiece from Payton Anderskow (3-for-5) and Kaitlyn Denten (2-for-4). Other multiple hitters for Hersey were Hannah Graff (2-for-4) and Cassie Zouras (2-for-5, double).

Maine West 18, Elmwood Park 3: Jordan Hart earned the win for Maine West (6-7) which received home runs from Kayla Pociejewski, Annemarie Weber and Katie Roycroft in the nonconference game.

Fenwick 11, St. Viator 4: Krystal Harris had 3 hits including 2 doubles and 2 RBI for the Lions. Teammate Meg Naughton also had 2 hits with a double and RBI in the ESCC match in Arlington Heights.
