Metea Valley's Szott throws no-hitter

Metea Valley 6, Larkin 0:

Jack Szott fired a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and 2 walks as the Mustangs (11-5, 6-4) pulled away to the Upstate Eight Conference victory. A 4-run sixth inning gave Metea Valley some breathing room. Andy See, who drove in 2 runs, Mike Sfikas and Blake Nicolls each had 2 hits.

Neuqua Valley 3, St. Charles North 2:

The Wildcats (13-4, 8-2) trailed when St. Charles North scored in the top of the ninth but answered with the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the inning. Kevin Hutt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and then Kevin Ringlein scored on a wild pitch. Tyler Bromer and Alex DiFranco combined on the mound.

St. Francis 5, Montini 4:

After the Broncos (11-9) took a 4-3 lead with a run in the top of the seventh, St. Francis (10-7) rallied to victory by scoring twice in the bottom of the inning. Brett Whelton's 2-run single scored Jason Sullivan and Tim Lilly. Colin Wisted was the winning pitcher in relief of Michael O'Keefe. Jack Gerberich went 2-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Naperville Central 10, Wheaton North 1:

Sophomore Ryan Eiermann struck out 15 and walked one in a 1-hitter for the Redhawks (9-8, 3-4) in their DuPage Valley Conference victory. Justin Wegner went 3-for-5 while Jon Barker, Beau Buchanan and Logan Muckenhirn had 2 RBI.

WW South 3, Naperville North 2:

Trailing 2-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tigers (9-9, 7-0) scored 3 runs to move into sole possession of first place in the DuPage Valley Conference. Spiro Pavlou's bases-loaded walk drove in the winning run. Chris Simpson went the distance to earn the victory. Justin Kelly and Jordan Coakley, who singled home a run in the seventh, each had 2 hits. Alex Garon went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Naperville North (7-10, 4-3).

Addison Trail 4, Hinsdale South 2:

The Blazers (5-14, 3-8) scored all their runs in the sixth inning to win their second straight West Suburban Gold game against Hinsdale South (10-7, 6-2). Cosme Garcia's 2-run single sparked the rally from a 1-0 deficit. Nick Villasenor was the complete-game winning pitcher.

Fenton 3, IC Catholic Prep 2:

The Bison (9-6, 3-3) held off the Knights in the Metro Suburban Conference. Eric Pingel drove in 2 runs while Alejandro Orosco won on the mound.

Glenbard South 10, St. Edward 3:

The Raiders (12-5, 7-3) broke open the Metro Suburban Conference game by scoring 5 runs in the fourth inning. Tim Marks, Robbie McGimpsey and Brian Ashe all had 2 RBI. Andrew Wrona went 2-for-5 in support of winning pitcher Dylan Brambora, who scattered 4 hits in 6 innings.

Lisle 7, Plano 5:

A 6-run bottom of the first inning powered the Lions (9-9, 5-3) to the Interstate Eight Conference victory. Mark McGrath doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs. Christian Grego went 3-for-4 while Drew English, Grant Haen and George Swedie had 2 hits apiece. Alec Van Volkenburg was the winning pitcher while Grego earned the save.

Willowbrook 5, Lyons Twp. 1:

The Warriors (14-6) needed only 6 hits to pull out the West Suburban Conference crossover victory. Trey Jones, Kyle Martyniuk, Dom McDonnell and Kyle Ferguson each drove in a run. Winning pitcher Chris Roycroft struck out eight over 6 innings while Joe Strem followed with a scoreless seventh for the save.
