An Aurora man has been sentenced to four years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor younger than 17, officials said.

Travis A. Armstrong, 31, of the 400 block of N. River St., Aurora, pleaded guilty to a Class 2 felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on Friday in exchange for a four-year sentence, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney.

Prosecutors said that from Jan. 1-25, 2014, Armstrong engaged in sexual acts with the victim - someone he knew - who was younger than 17 years old at the time, the release states.

Armstrong will also have to register as a sex offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. He will receive credit for 371 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest.
