Parking at Arlington Hts. municipal garage limited starting Monday

The municipal parking garage adjacent to Arlington Heights Village Hall will undergo a significant rehab starting Monday through mid-June, which will limit parking options in the downtown.

Limited parking will be available at the municipal garage at Sigwalt Avenue and Arlington Heights Road until May 11 when the garage will shut down entirely, according to a village news release.

Those who have business at village hall can park across the street in Lot O. Daily-fee parkers who use the municipal garage may also park in Lot O or in the Vail garage during the rehab work.

The repair work is the first step in a program to repair structural deficiencies in all four of the village-owned parking garages over the next two years. The program, which is expected to cost $2 million in all, is being paid for with a one-time budget surplus as the village switched to a calendar fiscal year.

Construction is expected to last until mid-June when the garage will reopen to the public.

"It is understood that the municipal garage closure will create an inconvenience to those who regularly park in the garage. However, this rehabilitation project is necessary, and closing the garage for a period of time will allow for the shortest disruption possible," the news release stated.
