Maine Twp. alumni share memories of growing up during WWII

Video and audio interviews with 13 alumni who attended Maine Township High School between 1945 and 1948 have been posted on the Park Ridge Historical Society's website as part of a wartime memories oral history project. In 2013, society volunteers and Maine East and South students began interviewing alumni, who shared stories of growing up during World War II. From some of those interviews came a 12-minute student-produced documentary on the Maine Flyer warplane named in honor of Maine students who raised $551,000 in war bonds in only two weeks. The premier of the documentary, "Faster and Higher, That's the Maine Flyer," will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St. The individual interviews with alumni are posted at pennyville.org.
