Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, April 25
Elgin at Prospect tournament: Makenna Downing scored twice while Brittany Dazzo, Trisha Quintana, Kylie Graves, Brenda Acuna and Hannah Demel added single goals to lead the Maroons past Sarah E. Goode Academy 8-0 at the Prospect tournament. Demel and Acuna shared time in goal. In its second game at the tournament, the Maroons (6-8-2) couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to Wauwatosa (Wis.). Demel made 5 saves in goal for Elgin.
Hampshire at DeKalb tournament: The Whip-Purs notched their first win of the season, beating Sterling 1-0 on penalty kicks. Meghan McIntyre and Miah Thompson scored PK goals for Hampshire. Kaila Kienzler (3 saves) and Catie Kochanski (5 saves) split time in goal. In its other game at DeKalb, the Whips (1-14-1) tied Hinckley-Big Rock 1-1. Thompson scored Hampshire's goal off an assist from Abril Santos. Kienzler made 7 saves.
CL South 7, CL Central 1: Kimmy Sulikowski scored a hat trick and Emily Warren added 2 goals to lead the Gators (9-4-1) to a Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Ann Lewandowski and Kelly Gaede added goals for Crystal Lake South while Jessica Schoenfeldt had 3 assists, Taylor Mraz 2 and Gaede 1. Jaclyn Przybylski made 4 saves in goal for the Gators.
Glenbard West 4, Dundee-Crown 0: Isabel Miranda made 3 saves and Tayor Gonio had 2 but the Chargers (3-9-0) fell at the Lake Park tournament. Payton DeLuga and Alyssa Moreno were named to the all-tournament team for D-C.
Batavia 8, Larkin 0: Bernice Gomez had 5 saves for Larkin (5-7-1) in this Upstate Eight River loss.
