Lenski gets HR record for Prospect

Prospect junior Casey Lenski went 2-for-4 with 6 RBI, a grand slam and 2-run homer in the Knights' 21-4 victory over visiting Hersey in the five-inning Mid-Suburban East softball game Friday.

Lenski's sixth and seventh homers of the spring broke the single-season school record of 6 set by Becky Thorne in 1989.

"To have Casey tie and then break the record on our home field was really cool," said Knights softball coach Jim Adair, whose team is 5-7 and 1-4. "And it's quite an achievement because our field faces into the southwest wind, so the wind is blowing in 90 percent of the time. When big hitters come here, and we see a lot of them, they don't hit the ball out of our park.

"Casey is our team leader and when she's on, the rest of the team steps up."

Lenski's homer ignited a 6-run first inning that featured back-to-back two-out, 2-run singles by Lauren Caldrone (3-for-4, 4 runs, 2 RBI) and Emily Saenz (2-for-4, 3 runs, 4 RBI).

Saenz had a repeat two-out single that produced 2 more runs in Prospect's fourth inning.

Alyssa Cacini (2-for-5, double) and Delilah Malczewski (2-for-4) were other key hitters for Prospect.

Malczewski (3-2) earned the victory, scattering 8 hits and striking out two.

Kaitlyn Denten and Cassie Zouras went 2-for-3 for Hersey (5-12, 0-6).

Katie Wingerter Remy Gerew, Jessica Schmiederer and Hannah Graff had the other hits for the Huskies.

In Game 1, Dolezal struck out 11 while tossing a 1-hitter.

This time, it was Dolezal (16-4) striking out a season-high 15 batters with no walk s while tossing a 2-hitter.

Barrington (17-4) scored the game's only run in the top of the fourth.

Macdonald reached on an error and Jenna Fingerman singled to right.

Nicole's Chapman's groundout to first advanced the runners to second and third and the Fillies scored 1 run when Haley Luczak reached on an error.

Junior Jordyn Fera and Caitlyn Farina (double) each went 2-for-3 for the Hawks, who scored 5 runs in the top of the fifth to rally from a 2-1 deficit.

In Game 1, Farina's 3-run homer with Giselle Velazquez (walk) and Fera (hit by pitch) on base, gave the Hawks a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth before Maine South won with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Hoffman drew 8 walks and had 2 hit-batsmen in the game.

Palatine 11, Maine West 1: Freshman Maddie Craver (4-2) struck out six with no earned runs as the Pirates (6-11) won their first game at the Rolling Meadows tourney over Maine West (5-8) and pitcher Grace Feldkamp who struck out two.

Brooke Bauer (3-for-3, double, 3 RBI, 3 runs), Craver (2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Maria Howell (1-for-1, triple 2 RBI, 1 run) led the offense for Palatine.

Loyola 6, St. Viator 3: Catherine Hafner had 2 RBI for the Lions, who also got a double from Addy Swiderski who scored on Roxanne Kowalczuk's infield out.

"Our girls kept battling," said Lions coach John Scotillo. "We hit four bombs that would have been out in most high school fields but in the bigger outfield here in Rosemont (Bandits stadium) and the wind blowing in they were only doubles or caught. l think that bodes well for our future." Haley Robinson had 2 hits for St. Viator and threw out a runner at the plate.
