A 49-year-old man has admitted to sexually assaulting a child in Elgin in 2010 and faces prison when sentenced in June, prosecutors said.

Alejandro Avelino-Consela, 49, of the 500 block of Locust Street, Elgin, pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated criminal sexual assault and faces between six and 30 years in prison when sentenced on June 12 by Kane County Judge Susan Clancy Boles.

Avelino-Consela also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Prosecutors said Avelino-Consela sexually assaulted the victim, who he knew and was under 18, between January 2010 and November 2010.

He was arrested in March 2014 and has been held on $300,000 bond since then.
