Mundelein 6, Vernon Hills 3: The Mustangs scored 3 runs in the top of eighth to pull out the North Suburban Conference crossover.

Jake Breitenreiter earned the win, while Patrick Betti struck out seven in 3 innings of relief.

Cooper Michalski and Brendan Murphy were both 2-for-4 for Mundelein (16-5). Murphy, Reed Rubio and Sam Osisek had doubles.

Ben Geren had an excellent start for Vernon Hills, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) through 7 innings. Geren and the Cougars took a 2 run lead into the top of the seventh, but Mundelein took advantage of 2 hits and 2 errors to tie the game.

Connor McNamara and Joey Marras both had 2 hits in the losing effort.

Crystal Lake South 6, Grayslake North 0: Danny Yates had a double for the Knights, who trailed only 2-0 after four innings of the Fox Valley Conference game.
