Aliens visiting Gurnee, but just for the school play

Aliens are making an appearance in Gurnee this weekend.

The Woodland Middle School Drama Club is presenting their spring play, "The Aliens are Coming! The Aliens are Coming!," with performances Friday and Saturday night in the school's cafeteria.

Under the direction of Amy Miller-Garcia, the play tells the story of a UFO convention at the Meteorite Inn. Hotel owners Doug and Peggy are hosting the convention in their conference room, but a larger-than-expected crowd of speakers and UFO believers attend.

There is an uprising, the military gets involved and the town's Mayor Mintweed tries to restore order.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Woodland Middle School 7000 Washington St. in Gurnee.

Tickets are $5 for adults (13 and over) and $3 for children.
