Join in Earth Day events or share photos of your own efforts online

Celebrate Earth Day - virtually. The village of Campton Hills and Campton Township are looking for volunteers to join in on this Earth Day commemoration.

Celebrate Earth Day on your own schedule over the next four weeks or join in from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, on the Great Western Trail, behind King's Mill on Route 64.

Participants will be featured on the village of Campton Hills and Campton Township websites by selecting an activity of your own choosing and emailing the story and photo of your Earth Day efforts.

Activities such as collecting debris out of a stream, installing a rain barrel, planting a native tree or plant such as prairie drop seed or flower like black-eyed Susan, installing a "Dark Sky" fully shielded light on your house, changing your light bulbs to CFL or LED, creating a rain garden, buying a compost bin, recycling items from your home and creative reuses are fun to try.

Or join together for the Great Campton Cleanup on the Great Western Trail. Meet behind Kings Mill at the trail head of the Great Western Trail at 9 a.m. Saturday. Participants need only to bring gloves.

Earth Day photos and stories may be emailed to Anthony Isom at anthony.isom@villageofcamptonhills.org and Lisa Mertz at lmertz@camptontownship.org.

This event is brought to you by the Joint Environmental Resource Management Committee of Campton Hills and Campton Township along with the Campton Hills Beautification Committee.
