West Aurora tops Waubonsie

West Aurora's softball team scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning to snap a pitchers' duel and beat Waubonsie Valley 2-0.

Both winning pitcher Hannah Beatus and Waubonsie Valley's Shannon Hohman pitched all 10 innings of the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division game at Waubonsie. Hohman struck out 10, Beatus 6, but Beatus drove in a 10th-inning run along with the Blackhawks' Carley Frauenhoff. Beatus allowed 9 hits and walked two batters but got the shutout.

Lisle 7, Seneca 6:

Lisle (2-6, 2-2) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the Interstate Eight Conference victory. Erica Krause hit a home run and a double for the Lions, Megan Carlson adding another double. Pitcher Anna Palicka (1-1) got the win.

Wheaton North 6, Glenbard North 4:

Sarah Gorzak struck out nine batters in a complete game performance in the DuPage Valley Conference. Maggie Will went 2-for-4 with a double.

Metea Valley 10, Glenbard East 2:

Metea Valley (7-8, 5-3) enjoyed a 7-run seventh inning to earn the Upstate Eight Valley win. Sydney Bajusz knocked 3 hits, one a double, and drove in 2 runs. Fran Senese had 3 hits and scored 2 runs and Megan Hinkle had 2 hits and scored 2 runs in support of pitcher Elise Titiner (7-7). Marissa West went 3-for-3 with a double for Glenbard East.

Wheaton Warrenville South 3, Lake Park 2:

The host Tigers scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to win in the DuPage Valley Conference. Pitcher Maddie Trost struck out seven and allowed 5 hits, getting 2 hits herself in the duel against Lake Park hurler Elisabeth Brown.

Girls soccer

Benet 1, Marist 0:

The lone goal came in the first half, Elena McCarthy converting an assist by Sophia Elbchiri. Emma Hlavin was in net for the Redwings' East Suburban Catholic Conference win in Chicago Heights.

Boys volleyball

Glenbard West d. Wheaton North:

Glenbard West setter Paulie Bischoff dished off 18 assists as Kyler Kotsakis and Jackson Nagle each slammed 5 kills and Geo Smith and Garrett Dickson added 4 kills apiece in a 25-15, 25-9 Hilltoppers win. Wheaton North was led by Sam Bedrossian with 4 kills, Ben Hamsho with 3.
