Conant, Wheeling secure outright divisional championships

Conant wrapped up a second straight outright championship in Mid-Suburban West girls water polo with a 9-2 victory against Fremd on Wednesday.

Carmen Rosas (5 goals), Miranda Fenlon (2) and Emily Weingart (2) led the scoring effort for Conant, while Emma Hoffman and Kayla Helsdingen found the net for Fremd.

Maddy Demaret made 12 saves and had 6 steals for Conant (21-0, 9-0), while Sam Wooley had 6 steals and Rosas had 5 steals with 4 ejections drawn.

The Cougars will host Wheeling in the MSL championship game for the second straight year on Wednesday, May 6.

Wheeling (14-6, 9-0) topped Rolling Meadows 14-6 on Wednesday to clinch an outright championship in the MSL East.

Palatine 11, Schaumburg 2: Caroline Wojtas (4 goals), Mathilde Mogensen (3) and Kristin Anderson (3) led the way as the visiting Pirates (20-5, 7-2) claimed an MSL West win behind 11 saves from goalie Tess O'Brien.

Prospect 10, Buffalo Grove 1: Gracie Dix scored 4 goals and Niki Neumann and Michelle Vuong had 2 apiece to help the Knights (12-8, 7-2) to an MSL East triumph.

Prospect goalie Lauren Broz made 12 saves and allowed 1 goal, to Sarah Morosan.

Barrington 18, Hoffman Estates 4: Andrea Potgieter (7 goals) and Mia Latimer (4) led a big scoring effort as the Fillies (7-12, 3-6) won in MSL West play.

Jenny Fermaintt and Francia Morales both scored twice for Hoffman Estates, and Karen Greenwalt stopped 4 shots.
