NNHS Symphonic Wind Ensemble Invited to Super State Band Festival

NAPERVILLE NORTH H.S. SYMPHONIC WIND ENSEMBLE INVITED TO

PERFORM AT THE ILLINOIS SUPERSTATE BAND FESTIVAL

Naperville, IL April 2015 - Naperville North H. S. is proud to announce the Symphonic Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the Illinois SuperState Band Festival on May 9th 2015 at the University of Illinois Krannert Center for the Performing Arts sponsored by the University of Illinois Bands and School of Music.

Each year only the finest middle school, junior high and senior high school concert bands from the state of Illinois are invited to perform on the Foellinger Great Hall stage in the Krannert Center. The 2015 Superstate Festival will feature and conclude with encore performances on Friday night with the Wind Orchestra, conducted by Barry Houser, and on Saturday night, the Illinois Wind Symphony, conducted by Dr. Linda R. Moorhouse.

"This is absolutely the highest honor for a concert band in the state of Illinois", remarked Don Stinson, NNHS Associate Band Director. "The judging committee is highly critical and selective. Only a very small percentage of the bands that apply are invited to perform. The students have worked extremely hard to prepare for this festival, including working with guest clinicians, working in sectionals, and preparing their parts on their own".

Band Director Daniel Moore was hardly surprised, "We have an incredible work ethic here in Naperville. All students in all areas expect excellence."

Naperville North High School is dedicated to the performing arts and believes academics and the arts are equally important to student development and achievement.

The NNHS Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform at the University of Illinois Krannert Performing Arts Center located in Urbana-Champaign Saturday, May 9th at 6:30pm. Award Ceremony will be at 9:15pm the same evening.
