Paul Rodgers to play Naperville Ribfest
Paul Rodgers, a founding member of Free, Bad Company and The Firm, is the latest addition to the musical lineup for the 28th annual Ribfest in Naperville.
Rodgers will perform Thursday, July 2 - the four-day festival's opening day.
He leads a list of performers that also includes the "Red Rocker" Sammy Hagar and his new band The Circle on Friday, July 3; Kellie Pickler and Kristian Bush playing in separate shows on Saturday, July 4; and The Band Perry on Sunday, July 5.
Rodgers, whose hits with Free and Bad Company include "All Right Now," "Can't Get Enough," and "Feel Like Making Love," also has become a Grammy-nominated solo artist during a five-decade career as a vocalist, songwriter and showman in rock 'n' roll.
He has partnered in recording or performing with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Brian May, David Gilmour and Buddy Guy among others, and his latest album is called "The Royal Sessions." The album is described as an exploration of R&B tunes and southern soul from the 1960s and 1970s
Ribfest, sponsored by the Naperville Exchange Club, raises money for charities that work to end child abuse and domestic violence. The festival runs noon to 10 p.m. July 2 through 5 in Knoch Park near downtown Naperville.
General admission tickets cost $12 online at ribfest.net until June 1 or $15 at the gate.
