Softball: Fox Valley roundup Monday, April 20

Sabrina Stockman went 4-for-5 with a home run and 5 RBI and Destiny West was 3-for-4 with an RBI as Elgin defeated Westminster Christian 14-9 Monday in nonconference softball action.

Jessica Rago added a 2-for-3 day with 2 RBI for the Maroons (2-13) while Cassidy Sell drove in a run, Madison Latham was 2-for-3 and Dannah Perryman was 2-for-2.

Stockman was the winning pitcher and Becca Fugiel took the loss for the Warriors.

Fugiel, Drew Randazzo, Kaylee Johnson and Kristen Mason each had doubles for Westminster.

St. Edward 4, Walther Christian 2: Rachel Lesh was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Emily Stapay (3-0) threw a 4-hitter with 6 strikeouts as the Green Wave (13-2-1) won in Metro Suburban crossover play. Megan Strong had an RBI for St. Edward and Ryann Scully added a double.

CL South 16, Cary-Grove 6: Kim Woods (2-for-4), Jenica Terry (2-for-4, 4 RBI) and Sam Burgard (3-for-4, 2B, 5 RBU) all hit home runs to lead the Gators (10-3, 1-1) to a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Chloe Skorija (RBI), Lauren Gauger (3-for-4), Taylor Kassel (2-for-4, 2B), Brooke Maddox (RBI) and Carly Chovanec (3-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI) also contributed to the Crystal Lake South offense. Sarah Purpura (3-for-3) and Brianne Prank (3 RBI) each homered for Cary-Grove (5-7, 1-2) while Colleen Kaveney (2B), Molly MacDuff (2-for-4, RBI), and Caitlyn Adams (RBI) also pitched in for the Trojans' offense. Hailee Massie earned the win for the Gators. Amanda DeGroote was the losing pitcher.
