Conant earns another MSL title game appearance

Conant will make an appearance in the Mid-Suburban League girls water polo championship game for a second straight year.

The Cougars (19-0, 8-0) earned a repeat berth by virtue of a 13-1 victory against Barrington on Monday. That outcome gave Conant a 2-game lead in the Mid-Suburban West.

Against Barrington, the Conant had a balanced scoring effort featuring Sam Wooley (3 goals), Carmen Rosas (3), Sarah Gregory (3), Paulina Chowaniec (2) and Emly Weingart (2).

Senior goalie Maddy Demaret contributed 18 saves and 5 steals, and Wooley, Claire Rosas and Weingart each drew 2 ejections.

The Mid-Suburban East race could be decided Tuesday, as defending champ Wheeling (7-0) plays Prospect (6-1).

Two prior meetings this season have been decided by 1 goal.

Palatine 9, Fremd 1: Caroline Wojtas scored 6 goals, Kristin Anderson had 2 and Caitlin McHugh 1 to help the host Pirates to an MSL West triumph. Tess O'Brien stopped 11 shots for Palatine (19-5, 6-2).

Ellie Connors made 4 saves for Barrington.

Schaumburg 13, Hoffman Estates 2: Britney Vasquez, Emily Droege and Jessica Bukielski each scored three times to help the Saxons (8-8, 3-5) pick up an MSL West win.
