5K run/walk to help child abuse victims

CYN Counseling Center and Grayslake High School District 127 public service practicum students are teaming up to host the 12th annual Take A Step for Kids 5K Run/Walk & Team Event at Independence Grove in Libertyville, on Saturday, April 25. The event takes place during Child Abuse Prevention Month, and all proceeds will go toward providing counseling services for victims of child abuse in Lake County and the surrounding area. Participants have the option of walking or running a 5K course individually or as part of a team. Registration will remain open until the morning of the race. Registration rate is $30. Race day registration, starting at 8 a.m., is $35. Visit www.takeastepforkids.org to register. The race officially begins at 9 a.m. and post-race festivities hosted by CYN start at 10 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age categories. CYN Counseling Center, a local nonprofit community counseling agency, annually assists more than 800 children, families and individuals.
