Barrington's Ivanauskas commits to Northwestern
Barrington junior forward Rapolas Ivanauskas has selected Northwestern for his collegiate basketball future.
The captain of the Daily Herald's Northwest All-Area Team last season, Ivanauskas helped the Broncos to a Mid-Suburban League championship by averaging 18 points and 8.3 rebounds during the regular season.
Though his 6-foot-9 frame gives a him a big advantage against most competitors, Ivanauskas brings a polished all-around game. He can shoot from distance and is comfortable driving to the basket as well as posting up.
He shot 52 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range last season and was also a force defensively, averaging about 3 blocks and 1 steal.
His impact was never clearer than in the Mid-Suburban League title game, when Ivanauskas finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds, helping Barrington to its first overall conference triumph in boys basketball since 1977.
