ECC gourmet dinner to support culinary student activities

For the 33rd year, guests are invited to Elgin Community College's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program's annual Gourmet Dinner on Friday, May 1, at the college's Building I Spartan Terrace Restaurant, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

An hors d'oeuvre and wine reception begins at 6 p.m. in Safety-Kleen Gallery One in the ECC's Building H Arts Center, followed by dinner.

The gourmet meal offers students in the program's culinary arts, pastry arts, and hospitality management classes an opportunity to execute their skills before graduating from ECC. Under the supervision of award-winning culinary faculty, students plan, prepare and serve the meal.

Delectable items on the menu include; goat's cheesecake with red onion jam, crab bisque with cauliflower and Brie, roasted beets and Gorgonzola cheese terrine salad, lemon encrusted free-range chicken with sour cherry-cottage cheese dumplings, sangria sorbet with Roquefort grapes, beef tenderloin “Rosa Di Parma” with potato risotto, and flourless chocolate sponge cake with mascarpone anglaise.

Proceeds from the dinner benefit the culinary program.

Tickets for the dinner, which will include wine pairings, are $100 per person and can be purchased through Friday, April 24, by calling the ECC box office at (847) 622-0300 or visiting tickets.elgin.edu.
