Oakton to host science and engineering festival

Celebrate STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) by attending the USA Science and Engineering Festival from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus, 1600 East Golf Road, in rooms 1608 and 1610.

Bring the whole family for hands-on demonstrations about everything from robotics to rockets.

Meet representatives from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Society of Structural Engineers, and many other STEM organizations and companies.

In addition, the college is offering a variety of free situation simulation workshops for middle school, high school, and college students from 9-10:30 a.m., and 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Learn about STEM fields including: biology/ecology, engineering, nanotechnology, mathematics, and supply chain.

Register for workshops at www.oakton.edu/sit-sims by Monday, April 20.

"The goal of this celebration is to expose people to the wide variety of STEM-related career opportunities," said Gloria Liu, coordinator of Oakton's Center for Promoting STEM.
